The other one

Carla sat in front of Martha.
Martha hoped she was him but she didn't show the disappointment on her face. "So, he is getting engaged."
Carla said and she drew on the table with her finger. "
The one that his parents like, short brown hair with the harsh features.
We saw her here with him a few weeks ago. " Carla searched Martha's eyes for a response.
Martha breathed in deeply, the knife in her chest dug harder.
She looked at Carla and forced a smile. "If he is happy, then I must be happy also.".

The announcement - A new book by Susanna K.

She sat in the same place where she met him for the first time. "Kettles" was 5 minutes away from her apartment.
It was her coffee shop where she read, wrote and contemplated.
The news hit her and she needed to recollect herself.
"Sir, the General called. You need to be on the base within 24 hours."
Jared's butler was breathless as he gave the heavy news.
A dark brown curl fell over her left eye.
She stared into the coffee cup. A gentle hand touched her shoulder.

All

With all your beauty and imperfection

With all your hope and intention

With all your care and attention

With all your sweetness and affection

I embrace all that is you completely.

Freely

There you stood and I ran with my arms open in an embrace.
Your eyes looked beyond me, not a smile on your face.

So foolishly I hugged you but your emotions were misplaced.

I asked you, " Why?"
You pretended to be shy.
"Just tired, I guess."

You said

I moved back and forced a smile.
And there we stood in silence for awhile.

Waiting

So what we had was crushed and broken.
The unanswered questions hung over us unspoken.

"Well, see you then." I turned to go.
"Yeah, ok." You moved away slow.

And the love between us was shattered.
Busted, bruised, injured and battered

Not a fight, or argument
Not even an unkind word

Just a deafening silence that sliced like a sword

Bleeding

And you will never know how you killed me.
120% of my love tossed freely.

Empty

Just empty

A thought and a reality

A thought and a reality

A shadow, an island, a lost memory floating in the wind
I jump and play in front of you and hope you can see me
But you look past me at her vision.
She turns her head to ignore you, to ignore your pangs of desire.
So I sit clinging on to your shirt tail, as you sit by her feet gazing up at her and she stares off in the distance, looking into nowhere.

A mother's kiss

I received a mother's kiss today as I was leaving the masjid.
Two lovely mothers sat together, chatting.
I approached them and offer my hand and said Salaam.
The lovely mother pulled me close and kissed my cheek.
She whispered duas of blessings upon me .

A mother's kiss, a beautiful mother's kiss
And we finished our greetings and Jumaah Mubaraks, I walked into the sunshine.
At first, there was a slight twinge in my stomach, then a small pain in my heart.
I received a mother's kiss, and I remembered you, Mommy.
A tear rolled down my cheek and I closed my eyes for a moment and reminisced  the moments that my head was in your lap.

Let me be

My dua:
Ya Rabb, let me be the answer of his duas in the depth of the night. And let him be the answer to mine.

Ya Rabb, let us never forget that this dunniyah is only a test and to find love, is the love that will transcend this life and be in the Hereafter.

Ya Rabb, guard our Iman and keep us hopeful in a world of ups and downs.

Ya Rabb, let us truly be the people who are 'wasit' in their behaviour and actions, because the middle ground is always the best, not too happy, not too sad but just in the moment.
Ameen
